We are a group of broke college students. My friend and I will be
sharing an apartment on campus for $700 each (utilities included). The
apartment is university-owned and only two people (myself & friend) are
"officially" on the lease. My friend's girlfriend will be living
with him in his room and contributing $300/month. We also have a bum
of a friend who has asked to live on our coach for the year. He will
keep all his belongings in his car and will only require the coach (for
sleep) and the shower/bathroom. The bum has offered to contribute
financially every month. I really need some input on how much I should
charge this guy. What is a fair fee? He has no space for anything and
only wishes to use our apartment for sleep and showering. Any help
would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

At least a hundred bucks per month. I hope you guys have more than 1
bathroom to share between the four of you.

Well how much will the girlfriend be using in the apartment? I mean I
the guy also will be using the common areas such as somewhere to eat,
study and hang around I'd go for something like $150-200.

The only difference between the girl and him is that she might keep some
of her stuff in her boyfriends room. It all depends on how much of his
invisible stuff (like food, clothes and books) you'll actually start
seeing after the first month or so.

$200 a month will get you a small apartment of your own in my college
town.
