Official Mainland Chinese sports policy is to focus on those sports
which benefit most from skill as opposed to sheer physical force.
Thus, though there are a very few Chinese track and field stars at the
world-class level of competition, you have a host of Chinese winners in
events like gymnastics.
In the US, those sports which require brute strength and speed are
typically also those which are inexpensive to play: basketball,
football, baseball. Thus, blacks and hispanics (who are basically
black, after all) predominate in these.
What I don't understand is why it's so much easier to get a sports
scholarship to college than an academic one. Generally speaking, you
can get a sports scholarship as a good athlete, whereas to receive an
academic scholarship you need to be an excellent student.
And now, dear me, Harvard has dropped early-admissions in the hopes of
increasing its black and hispanic freshmen population. How do liberals
keep such high standards for studious Asian applicants while going out
of their way to help black and hispanics who prefer to play ball?

Are blacks built to excell in sports? Most of the top one in the US
are black.
My personal opinion is that in the US blacks on average are poor so the
kids can only afford to run or fight for fun. Since they spent their
childhood doing that, of course they become the stars in boxing,
football, baseball, etc. Many of them are also attracted to sports
because there's no race barrier and any black dude can make big bucks
by being good.
Don't believe me. How many black ice skaters or hockey players do you
know? There are few because it takes money to go ice skating but you
don't need money to go fighting or running. Notice any black-American
swimmers or divers?
There are few top Chinese-American swimmers and divers but the top ones
in the world are Chinese. Reason? Chinese-Americans value knowledge
and look down on sports. No Chinese-American skaters in the top ranks
but Chinese have and had top ranking ladies and pairs.
My conclusion is race affects sports performance by a factor of money.
